Today, Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad launched the trial run of the interactive electronic platform for consular services, through the “Egyptian Abroad” application, which is available for download on smartphones through the “App Store” and “Google Play” stores, as part of the state’s efforts to enhance digital transformation and develop government services provided to Egyptians abroad.
The launch of the platform comes in implementation of presidential directives to raise the level of consular services and facilitate Egyptian citizens abroad’ access to various services and transactions, thus contributing to simplifying procedures and saving time and effort.
The trial run of the application currently includes 17 Egyptian diplomatic and consular missions: Prague, the Egyptian Consulate in Houston, Rabat, the Egyptian Consulate in Hamburg, Manama, Berlin, Doha, and Pretoria, the Egyptian Consulate in Los Angeles, the Egyptian Consulate in Frankfurt, Rome, and Abu Dhabi, the Egyptian Consulate in Chicago, the Egyptian Consulate in Marseille, Brussels, and the Egyptian Consulate in Sydney, and the Egyptian Consulate in Melbourne.
It is planned to gradually expand the availability of the application to include more diplomatic and consular missions during the next phase.
The “Egyptian Abroad” application allows citizens to conduct consular transactions and follow up on the various stages of their completion until the related procedures are completed, which helps simplify transactions and improve the quality of services provided to Egyptians abroad.
The Ministry intends to provide more consular services through the application during the next phase, in addition to adding a smart assistant based on artificial intelligence techniques, to respond to citizens’ inquiries and provide information and guidance related to consular services and procedures.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the launch of the platform comes within the framework of integration with other government digital platforms available to citizens, and is consistent with the state’s efforts to care for the interests of Egyptians abroad, facilitate their transactions, and enhance communication with them.
She added that the expansion of the use of modern digital technologies and artificial intelligence tools aims to develop the consular work system and improve the level of services provided to Egyptian citizens abroad.
