Tel Aviv - Afaq News - It was claimed that a Fly Dubai flight, which was heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv with about 150 passengers on board, briefly transmitted the emergency code 7700, before sending the code 7500 used to report a hijacking, during the plane's descent and while it was turning on its path.
According to Israeli reports, the plane's course was diverted towards Saudi Arabia and its altitude was lowered, while two Israeli Air Force fighter jets were dispatched to escort it.
Following the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Minister of Defense are holding an urgent security meeting to discuss the developments.
An Israeli military source stated that "there is currently no confirmed information regarding a hijacking," explaining that the pilot sent a distress signal.
