NBC News: 8 American Soldiers Injured in Iranian Attack Two Weeks Ago

Washington - Afaq News - The American network "NBC News" reported today, Monday, that 8 U.S. Marines were injured in an attack launched by Iran two weeks ago in the Strait of Hormuz.

The network quoted 3 unnamed American officials as saying that Iran targeted a U.S. ship with a cruise missile on September 14.

It noted that 8 Marines on board the ship sustained minor injuries and were affected by smoke from the explosion.

It mentioned that the soldiers later returned to their duties.

Iran targets any ship attempting to cross the strategically important Strait of Hormuz for global energy supplies without coordinating with it or when passing through a route not designated by it.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a war on Iran that resulted in thousands of casualties, and Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and American sites in the region.

Subsequently, the United States carried out attacks on sites in Iran, amid a deadlock in negotiations between the two countries, despite signing a memorandum of understanding in mid-June.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the key negotiation points between Iran and the United States, with both sides claiming control over the strait and holding differing positions regarding the management of navigation in it.
