Increase in the Industrial Production Index during August

Ramallah - Afaq News - The Central Bureau of Statistics announced an increase in the industrial production index by 1.21% during August 2026, compared to the previous month, reaching 84.68, compared to 83.67 during July 2026 (base year 2019 = 100).

It added, in a statement issued today, Sunday, in this regard, that the activities of electricity, gas, steam supply, and air conditioning recorded an increase of 14.12%, which has a relative importance of 7.38% of the total industrial activities.

Water supply activities, sewage activities, and waste management and treatment also recorded an increase of 6.24%, which has a relative importance of 1.84% of the total industrial activities.

Meanwhile, manufacturing activities recorded a decrease of 0.60% during August 2026 compared to the previous month, which has a relative importance of 87.89% of the total industrial activities.

As for the sub-activities that have a significant relative impact on the overall index, some manufacturing activities recorded a decline during August 2026 compared to the previous month, most notably; the production of other non-metallic minerals, the production of fabricated metal products excluding machinery and equipment, tobacco products manufacturing, textiles manufacturing, and chemicals and chemical products manufacturing.

On the other hand, the index recorded an increase in some manufacturing activities, most notably; the production of basic pharmaceutical products and their preparations, the clothing industry, the furniture industry, printing and reproduction of recorded media, the food products industry, the wood and wood products industry, and the paper and paper products industry.

Activities in mining and quarrying recorded a decrease of 0.43%, which represents a relative importance of 2.89% of total industrial activities.

The statistics indicated that 11% of industrial establishments in the Gaza Strip resumed operations during August 2026, out of 114 establishments representing the industrial production index sample in the sector.
