“Elections are the solution.” A slogan that I raised for many years, and it even became a name to identify me on the Twitter platform for a long time.
As the nation that resorts to opening the doors of conflict whenever it takes a step forward, has no choice but to turn to the magic box to come up with an answer, and for the people to bear responsibility for their choice. Confirming the independence of his decision, the freedom of his choice, accepting his vision, and determining his path. The Fund is also the seat of political sanctions and the starting point for restoring confidence to those who deserve it.
In our Palestinian case, general elections were delayed by more than twenty years. Years of misery, drought, and national, political, economic, and social drought, in light of the chaos of public values and morals that deteriorates every day from what preceded it.
The responsibility falls first on the elite of the Palestinian people, including political, artistic, legal, and intellectual thinkers, and I do not exonerate myself. The Palestinian elite - whether those whose ideas are imprisoned in the cages of power, those who are free, or those who have been liberated - are all the same in concern.
This elite, along with those with it, bears responsibility for the stagnation of legislative political work throughout these lean years. There is no voice, no pen, nor did we hear about a symposium, nor about action that constitutes a clear path that differentiates between elections taking place and not.
The issue of elections is not a luxury, nor is it a formal or passing issue, but rather it is the core and foundation of any political system that respects its people. Elections are a national and political entitlement within an applicable legal framework, and it is not necessary to think about implementing it or not.
But what general elections are being talked about between postponement and reverence, at a time when almost no village, town, or alley is devoid of the clear presence of the occupation, with its regular and random armies? Between arrests, confiscations, seizures, blocking of roads, closure of cities and neighbourhoods, demolition and intimidation, and a clear decline in the ability to face internal, national and regional challenges and difficulties.
There is no plan, no vision, no national and political program around which people can rally and unite, and we are a people who are skilled at arguing in every matter, and the saying of the Jordanian writer Jalal Al-Khawaldeh applies to us: (If ants learned to argue, they would not survive the winter).
What elections can take place when we are not immune to protecting everything, including the election ink and boxes?
Therefore, the world that demands that we hold elections, kindly provides us with the environment that allows us to reach the ballot boxes without fear, and provides the people of Gaza with water, food and shelter. Someone who does not find water as large as the “home” of birds cannot think about choosing a representative for him or on his behalf, before he obtains his rights at the minimum human level for life.
This international community is required - before it demands elections - to make life available to us, and to remove us from the cycle of violence, vanity, and rampant evil that has become a matter at the gates of hell. This world demands that it view us as a people with sovereign political rights over its land, and not human surplus whose presence disturbs the neighbors.
Faces of love
I have carefully followed the stages of the election process, and I stand with respect and appreciation for those who were able to form electoral lists outside the crowd, and perhaps this is an opportunity to reproduce more formation movements.
Party law
It is the mandatory passage to formulate a list and submit it to the Central Elections Commission; The lists must be within parties legislated in accordance with a law specific to parties. Elections based on organizations and groups do not build an advanced political system. Parties can be formed from the same organizations, so that this party status remains in power, and the “mother” remains the incubator within the framework of the Palestine Liberation Organization.
Political response
In a situation where Zionist brutal extremism is at such a high level, and in light of the Palestinian situation and the international and regional situation, the response is to raise the ceiling, not to lower it. Therefore, let us raise the slogan: (No elections under the oppression of the occupation, and the independent Palestinian state with its capital, Al-Quds Al-Sharif, first).
