The Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen announced on Sunday that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards the eastern region had been intercepted and destroyed. Two cruise missiles towards Riyadh and the southern region and a drone launched by the Houthis were also destroyed. Coalition spokesman Major General Turki al-Maliki said, “The air defense intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards the eastern region,” according to the Saudi “SPA” news agency.
The Saudi Civil Defense had announced earlier, at dawn on Sunday, that the danger had passed from the Al-Ahsa region, Abqaiq Governorate, and the city of Dammam, after raising an alert to warn of danger. Later, on Sunday, Major General Turki Al-Maliki announced, via the “X” platform, the interception and destruction of two cruise missiles towards Riyadh and the southern region.
Al-Maliki also confirmed in another blog post via “X” that “a drone launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards the southern region was intercepted and destroyed.” At the same time, the Houthis in Yemen announced that they had carried out 6 operations, which they described as “qualitative” inside the Saudi interior, with a large number of ballistic and winged missiles and drones.
The Houthis explained in a statement, on Saturday, that the first operation targeted King Khalid International Airport, oil tanks, and the distillation tower belonging to Aramco in Riyadh. The second operation targeted Aramco in Khurais, while the third operation targeted Pumping Station No. 8 in the Dawadmi area, according to what was reported by the Houthi-run version of the Yemeni Saba News Agency. The Houthis added that the other three operations targeted Saudi forces in the National Guard camp in Najran, in the east of Al-Jawf Governorate, and in the east of the Ragwan and Madghal districts in Ma’rib Governorate, they claimed.
