On Friday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) responded to what Iranian forces claimed, that they destroyed a speedboat belonging to the US Army in the Strait of Hormuz. Centcom said in a post on its official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “An allegation.
Today, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed that it destroyed a US military naval drone in the Strait of Hormuz. This claim is just as false as the other lies peddled by the Revolutionary Guard this week.”
The US Central Command explained, "The truth is that all the US Navy's military unmanned vessels in the Middle East region are fully accounted for, including a fleet of advanced unmanned vessels patrolling the Strait of Hormuz to support the US Central Command's defense system." The Iranian naval forces claimed that “an enemy drone boat was destroyed, in addition to two oil tankers colliding with mines east of the Strait of Hormuz.”
The official Iranian news agency IRNA quoted the Iranian Navy as saying, “On Friday, the army’s naval forces targeted an enemy drone boat that was moving and active in the area of operations east of the Strait of Hormuz, where they opened fire on it and destroyed it.”
