In light of the continuing confrontations between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, the capital, Khartoum, witnessed march attacks on Monday.
A Sudanese military source confirmed to Al Arabiya/Al Hadath that ground defenses responded to attacks carried out by Rapid Support suicide drones.
He also explained that the marches attempted to target locations in the capital at dawn.
But the military source indicated that all the attacking aircraft were shot down before reaching their targets.
Last year, the Sudanese army announced full control of the capital, Khartoum, and its suburbs (i.e. the triangular capital: Khartoum, Omdurman, and Khartoum Bahri) in two main stages in March and May 2025.
Since then, the intensity of the confrontations there has decreased, with marching attacks continuing from time to time by the Rapid Support.
It is noteworthy that the war of marches has escalated over the past months between the army and the Rapid Support alike, in the wake of the continuation of the war that broke out in mid-April 2023.
While the conflict claimed the lives of more than 200,000 people, according to estimates by relief organizations, the war led to the displacement of millions inside and outside the country, and the spread of famine in several regions.
