The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement today, Tuesday, that Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Egyptians abroad, directed the Egyptian embassy in Sri Lanka, which represents Egypt in the Maldives, to quickly communicate with the Maldivian authorities to work on the release of the Egyptian citizen and provide the necessary consular support and assistance to him.

The ministry added that the minister directed the consular sector at the ministry to maintain continuous communication with the citizen's family to keep them informed of the latest developments and the efforts being made to resolve the issue he faced and secure his return to Egypt.

In this context, Ambassador Hossam Abdel Tawab El-Gohary, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, conducted intensive communications with the Director of the Consular Department at the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during which he emphasized the importance of ensuring the proper treatment of the Egyptian citizen and the swift resolution of his situation and his release.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that these efforts culminated in the Maldivian side's approval to release the Egyptian citizen, within the framework of the friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries.

Upon his return to the homeland, Ambassador Haddad Al-Juhari welcomed the Egyptian citizen and his family at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where the family expressed their sincere appreciation for the efforts made by the ministry and the relevant authorities to resolve the situation and secure his return to Egypt.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Egyptian citizens traveling abroad to adhere to the laws and regulations in force in the countries they are in, comply with the instructions of the relevant authorities and airport security officers, and to immediately contact the nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate in case of any legal issues or detention by the foreign state authorities.
