The Ministry of Interior rejects campaigns of abuse and incitement against feminist activists

Ramallah - Ofoq News - The Ministry of Interior stressed the importance of confronting campaigns of incitement, defamation, abuse, and cyberbullying targeting feminist activists, Palestinian women, and the women’s movement, and rejecting these practices that affect human dignity, rights, and freedoms, and reflect negatively on civil peace and the societal fabric.

The Ministry stressed that freedom of opinion and expression does not justify insulting others, defaming them, or targeting them with incitement and bullying campaigns, stressing the necessity of respecting the dignity of Palestinian women, appreciating their national and societal role, and rejecting all forms of targeting of female activists and actors in public affairs because of their positions or activity.

The Ministry, based on its responsibilities to protect rights and freedoms and maintain civil peace, stressed the importance of confronting practices that violate the law and enhancing accountability in accordance with legal procedures, in a way that ensures the protection of male and female citizens and the preservation of their dignity and rights.

She pointed out that Palestinian women are an integral partner in the national struggle, building society and strengthening its resilience, and that protecting their dignity and rights is a shared national and societal responsibility, calling for stopping campaigns of abuse and incitement, giving priority to the language of dialogue and mutual respect, and not allowing cyberspace to be turned into an arena for targeting women and undermining their role and status.

The Ministry of Interior also stressed that maintaining civil peace requires responsible discourse that respects difference, rejects defamation and incitement, and promotes a culture of the rule of law and respect for human dignity and rights.
