The head of the Yemeni Presidential Command Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, confirmed on Thursday the continuation of Operation “Yemen Dawn” until state institutions are restored and its authority is extended over the entire Yemeni territory, all the way to the capital, Sana’a, at a time when military briefings he received revealed the implementation of more than 17,000 air and ground attacks on the sites and capabilities of the Houthi group, since the launch of the operation with the support of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy.

Al-Alimi made contact with members of the Presidential Leadership Council, Abdul Rahman Al-Muharami and Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, and Prime Minister Shaye’ Al-Zindani, to check on their safety and members of the government, following a missile and drone attack that targeted the Ma’ashiq presidential palace in the interim capital, Aden.

According to the official Yemeni News Agency, Al-Alimi heard from the three officials a preliminary assessment of the effects of the attack and the measures taken to deal with its repercussions. He directed the competent authorities to care for the families of the dead and injured, complete investigations, and strengthen security measures to protect government facilities and those working in them.

The Chairman of the Leadership Council considered that targeting the presidential and government headquarters is an extension of the Houthi attacks on airports, oil installations and civilian objects in Yemen and Saudi Arabia, stressing that the state will continue to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities, and that protecting its sovereign institutions and citizens is an uncompromising responsibility.

He directed the military and security leaders to take the necessary measures to protect state institutions, confront threats, and respond to their sources, in accordance with the law and to ensure the protection of civilians and civilian facilities.

In parallel, the Chairman of the Presidential Command Council followed developments in military operations on various fronts, during contacts with the Minister of Defense, Taher Al-Uqaili, the Chief of the General Staff, Commander of Joint Operations, Saghir bin Aziz, and the Commander of the Fourth Military Region, Hamdi Shukri, along with the Governor of Taiz, Nabil Shamsan, and the Governor of Lahj, Murad Al-Halmi.

According to the military briefings he received, the number of air and ground attacks carried out by government forces, with the support of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, since the launch of “Yemen Dawn” exceeded 17,000 targets, including Houthi sites, gatherings, and military capabilities on multiple fronts.

Al-Alimi praised the performance of the government forces in their various formations and the popular resistance, praising Saudi Arabia’s support and the military role of the coalition in supporting operations against the Houthis.

On the humanitarian level, Al-Alimi heard from the governors of Taiz and Lahj reports on the waves of displacement, the needs of affected families, and the measures taken to secure basic services and supply routes, and to enhance coordination between local authorities and military and security leadership to protect civilians.

He touched on the violations committed by the Houthi group in areas it recently entered in Taiz Governorate, including forced recruitment and mobilization, and the imposition of ideological mobilization programs on educational and community institutions, warning of their repercussions on the population and the social fabric.

Al-Alimi reiterated that the military operation will continue according to its declared objectives until ending the coup and restoring state institutions all the way to Sanaa, considering that the Houthi attacks on government institutions and civilians reinforce the necessity of confining weapons and armed force to state institutions.
