The Indian Consulate announced today, Sunday, that all 22 Indian crew members aboard the oil tanker (C No. 2) were rescued safely after an incident the tanker suffered off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah in the Emirates, without providing details about the incident.
The Indian Consulate said on Ex: “The Consulate learned that an accident had occurred on the ship” MT GEM No. 2 "Off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah, which had an Indian crew of 22 on board."
She added: "All crew members were rescued and are safe. The consulate is communicating with the UAE authorities and is providing all possible forms of assistance and support to the Indian sailors."
The British Maritime Trade Operations Authority announced that it had received a report that an oil tanker on its way out of the Strait of Hormuz had been hit on the left side by a missile of unknown origin, causing a fire to break out on board.
The authority also added that the crew members are fine and that the assessment of the material damage is not yet clear.
