The Central Bank indicated that the meeting represents a step towards developing the banking relationship between the Central Bank of Syria and the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, and building on the existing channels to enhance banking cooperation.
The Syrian Minister of Finance, Mohammad Yasser Barnieh, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Safwat Raslan, participated in the roundtable meeting on Syria organized by the American Chamber of Commerce at the headquarters of "Citibank" in New York City, with the participation of representatives from several American investment, commercial, and financial companies and institutions.
