Morocco and the African Development Bank Group signed a financing agreement worth $307.8 million "270 million euros", as part of a program to expand and modernize airport infrastructure, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of Moroccan airports.

The President of the African Development Bank Group, Sidi Ould Tah, stated in a statement that "through the loan granted to the National Airports Office, the African Development Bank supports Morocco's ambition to modernize and enhance its capabilities in the field of airports, especially in strategic cities such as Marrakech, Agadir, Fez, and Tangier, and the bank contributes to Morocco's efforts in preparation for major international events."

The program to expand and modernize airport infrastructure aims to sustainably enhance the competitiveness of Moroccan air transport by modernizing and expanding the most important airports in Morocco, increasing the operational capacities of airports, expanding air navigation systems, and enhancing safety and security systems, according to the Moroccan News Agency.

These investments will particularly enable airports to be equipped with new generation safety equipment, automated baggage handling systems, and digital solutions aimed at facilitating the travel experience for passengers and improving their experience, providing safer and faster services according to the highest international standards.

In light of the continuous growth of passenger traffic and cargo transport expected in the coming years, the project will contribute to preparing the infrastructure of Moroccan airports to meet future needs in the field of mobility and air connectivity.

By 2030, the program will increase the reception capacity of airports to 14 million passengers in Marrakech, 5 million in Agadir, 3.6 million passengers in Tangier, and 3 million in Fez.
