Hours After the "Makkah Agreement" Meeting.. The "Coalition" Announces the "Interception of Two Drones Launched by the Houthis Towards Riyadh"

- The "Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen" led by Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday that air defenses "intercepted and destroyed two drones" launched by the Houthi group in Yemen towards the Riyadh area. The spokesperson for the "Coalition", Turki Al-Maliki, stated via the "X" platform (formerly Twitter): "We are monitoring and tracking missile and drone threats towards the Kingdom", and added: "The air defenses intercepted and destroyed two drones launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards the Riyadh area."

He later mentioned: "The air defense intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles targeting Khamis Mushait." The attack came hours after the Saudi Ministry of Defense announced on Friday that the heads of defense forces and chiefs of staff from the countries party to the Makkah Agreement for joint defense (Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan) held a meeting in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, to discuss "ways to advance intelligence cooperation and military coordination, contributing to enhancing deterrence and collective defense."

The Saudi Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman, also discussed during a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, General Asim Munir, the "criminal attacks targeting Makkah and the civil and economic facilities in the Kingdom." Prince Khalid bin Salman added via the "X" platform (formerly Twitter): "We praised the outcomes of the meeting of the chiefs of staff of the countries of the Makkah Agreement for joint defense, and we discussed the criminal attacks targeting Makkah and the civil and economic facilities in the Kingdom, and we confirmed the continuation of joint work to confront these attacks in accordance with the Makkah Agreement for joint defense."

The joint defense agreement, which was concluded last month and resembles NATO agreements in nature, stipulates that any attack against any member state "is considered an attack against all of them."
