After a years-long absence from the screen, Egyptian artist Khaled Mahmoud returns to the spotlight of Ramadan drama once again, revealing in exclusive statements to "Al-Arabiya.net" and "Al-Hadath.net" the behind-the-scenes of his sudden departure from the artistic scene, and the coincidence that brought him together with artist Ahmed Al-Awdi to return through the series "Sultan Al-Deeb."
In response to the reasons for this absence, Khaled Mahmoud clarified that he did not intentionally distance himself, nor were there personal or health-related reasons that hindered him, but rather it was related to the lack of artistic offers from production companies and directors, amid the significant changes that the artistic scene has witnessed recently.
He added that the appointment of young directors to direct Ramadan season series, and the lack of prior acquaintance with them, could be a main reason for this temporary decline.
Khaled Mahmoud revealed details about his nomination for the series "Sultan Al-Deeb," saying that he received a prior call from artist Mahmoud Al-Bazawy, who inquired about his opinion on artist Ahmed Al-Awdi, to which he praised him, saying that Al-Awdi is a great and influential star, and he has been following and loving him for years. He added that Al-Bazawy asked him if he would agree to participate in his new work, to which the response was an immediate acceptance.
Khaled Mahmoud continued that after that he received a direct call from Ahmed El Awady, who informed him of his nomination for a main role in the series "Sultan Al-Deeb," which is scheduled to be shown in the upcoming Ramadan drama race.
The artist Khaled Mahmoud expressed his immense happiness with the wide interest and numerous calls he received to congratulate him on his return, something he has missed over the past years, wishing that his participation would please the audience.
He confirmed that he agreed to participate without having detailed knowledge of the nature of his role, based on his complete trust in the vision of Ahmed El Awady, the screenwriter Mahmoud Hamdan, and the director Mohamed Abdel Salam.
It is worth noting that the artist Khaled Mahmoud is considered one of the most prominent faces of television drama across different generations, as he has been accustomed to participating in notable works, reaching the lead role in five series at the same time, but his presence has started to decline over the past decade, before completely disappearing over the past years, which raised questions among his audience.
As for the series "Sultan Al-Deeb," it includes a selection of stars, most notably Ahmed El Awady, Yara Al-Sukari, and Khaled Mahmoud, written by Mahmoud Hamdan and directed by Mohamed Abdel Salam.
