A statement from the Saudi Federation regarding the fate of the “Al-Akhdar” coach... and Amir comments

To follow the Saudi Football Channel on WhatsApp from Ofoq News in Arabic, click here - The Saudi Football Federation announced, on Thursday, that the national team coach, Georgios Donis, is continuing his work, and that there is no decision related to changing the technical staff. The Saudi Football Association said in a statement via its official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “In reference to what is being circulated in the media regarding the technical director of the first national team, Mr. Georgios Donis, the Saudi Football Association would like to confirm that the coach is continuing with the national team, and that there is no decision related to changing the technical staff according to what has been circulated.”

The Saudi Football Federation called on “all media outlets to ensure accuracy and obtain information from their official sources.” The past few hours have witnessed circulating reports about the possibility of Denis leaving his position during the coming period.

For his part, Saudi Prince Abdul Rahman bin Musaed commented on the Saudi Federation’s statement, saying on the “X” platform: “Timely news to stop all the rumors that appeared after what the sports channels broadcast.” Abdul Rahman bin Musaed commented on a post by another user on the “X” platform, about the possibility of the coach’s departure, and said: “I think that it is absolutely unreasonable to change Denis at this time, and the Asian Championship is after 3 months, especially after the team won the Gulf Cup and satisfied all the Green fans in all its matches. The Asian Championship is more difficult than the Gulf Championship in stages, and the Saudi team has a new generation, and therefore it is never guaranteed to achieve the Asian title even with Denis, this is something we realize, but for a new coach to come to lead the team in the Cup In the near future of Asia, and excluding a coach who got along well with the players and won a championship for the national team after twenty years, this is something that I do not see as being logical. If Denis’ change is inevitable for any reason, let it be after the Asian Championship, not before.

The Saudi national team defeated its Emirati counterpart by two goals to none, at Al-Enmaa Stadium, last Tuesday, in the final of the Arabian Gulf Cup.
