Washington - Ofoq News - US President Donald Trump said that his envoy Steve Witkoff is working to reach an agreement with Iran and is making progress on this path, but he stressed that concluding a deal is not the option he prefers.
Trump added, during an election rally in Texas in support of a candidate for the Senate elections, that Iran is ready, he said, to make major concessions in exchange for stopping the escalation, stressing that it "will never achieve nuclear peace."
In the context of his talk about the war on Iran, Trump's statements sparked controversy and anger in the state of California, after he invoked the possibility that the cities of San Diego and Los Angeles would be attacked to justify the continuation of military operations.
Trump said that allowing Iran to attack American cities would lead to “bad things” and the fall of the country, adding that his administration “protects the cities and the country” and will not allow that to happen.
