The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned, on Monday, the attacks launched by the Yemeni Houthi group on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, and King Fahd International Airport in the city of Dammam, on Sunday, calling for a firm international stance to stop these attacks and hold those responsible for them accountable. The Ministry said in a statement: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the State of Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the continued terrorist and criminal attacks launched by the Houthi militia against the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the most recent of which was the targeting of King Khalid International Airport in the capital, Riyadh, and King Fahd International Airport in the city of Dammam on October 11, 2026. The attack on King Khalid International Airport resulted in the death of a resident and the injury of others, as well as material damage, in a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty.” "It is a flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law."
The Ministry added that "the persistence in targeting civilian airports and vital installations represents a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the lives of civilians and the safety of air navigation," stressing that this "requires a firm international stance to stop these heinous attacks and hold those responsible for them accountable." The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry affirmed "the State of Kuwait's absolute solidarity with the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and its full support for it in all the measures it takes to protect its security and stability and preserve its sovereignty," noting that "the Kingdom's security is an integral part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries."
The Ministry expressed Kuwait's sincere condolences and sincere sympathy to the victim's family, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. The Houthis in Yemen have intensified their attacks on airports and civilian sites in Saudi Arabia, as part of the confrontations they are waging with Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces.
At least 12 people were killed and hundreds injured on Saturday when Houthi militants in Yemen targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, while the Iran-backed group escalated its campaign against the kingdom. The Kingdom's Civil Aviation Authority announced, on Sunday, that the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resulted in the killing of 4 Saudi citizens, two residents from Bangladesh, and one resident from each of the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan, adding that 309 people were injured.
