New Assassination Crime in Gaza Victimizing a Sharia Judge

The assassination of Judge Bassam Al-Farra came two days after the killing of the three children of advisor Baha Bahlousha (Reuters).

Al Jazeera's correspondent in Gaza reported that unknown assailants shot a Palestinian Sharia judge, killing him, a development that increases the atmosphere of tension in the sector since the killing of the advisor's children.

Initial reports indicated that unknown assailants shot the judge as he was leaving a Sharia court in Khan Younis in the middle of the sector, killing him.

Security sources stated that the victim is Bassam Al-Farra (30 years old), a judge at the Khan Younis Sharia court and a member of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). No group has claimed responsibility for the operation.

The killing of Judge Al-Farra comes two days after unknown assailants opened fire on a car carrying the three children of Colonel Bahlousha in Gaza City, resulting in their deaths along with their companion.

The killing of the children of advisor Bahaa Balousha has caused tension in the sector, as the security forces of President Mahmoud Abbas unexpectedly deployed hundreds of their members in Gaza.

This move provoked the discontent of Interior Minister Said Siam, who confirmed that the deployment of forces in Gaza is under the jurisdiction of his ministry.
