- The Gulf Football Federation announced via its account on the "X" platform on Monday that Iraq will host the "Gulf 28" Championship. It has been decided that the championship will take place on Iraqi soil from December 9 to 22, 2028.
Iraq has previously hosted matches of the "Arab Gulf" Cup in its 5th and 25th editions in 1979 and 2023. The current edition of the tournament is still ongoing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the first and second rounds of the group stage have concluded.
The teams from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar have secured their qualification to the semi-finals so far.
