"CENTCOM" comments after Iranian military leader's statement about complete control over the Strait of Hormuz

- The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on Monday that a statement by a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard leader earlier today, claiming that Tehran fully controls the Strait of Hormuz, is "incorrect." They added via X platform: "Iran does not possess naval power as U.S. forces have sunk it.

Furthermore, Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz, as evidenced by the passage of thousands of ships through the strait, along with the transportation of more than a billion barrels of oil in just the past few months." Earlier on Monday, the Iranian news agency Mehr reported that the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Army, Habibollah Sayyari, stated that "the area west of the Strait of Hormuz, the strait itself, and the Persian Gulf are under the complete control of the naval forces of the Revolutionary Guard."

He continued: "Meanwhile, the area east of the strait and the northern Indian Ocean are under the complete control of the naval forces of the army." He also said: "We operate effectively in the northern Arabian Sea and east of the Strait of Hormuz, and we do not allow anyone to pass.

On the other side, our brothers in the Revolutionary Guard stand firm. The enemy's statements are a separate matter; the reality is that the Strait of Hormuz is under our complete control."

The U.S. President reiterated his statements that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and that it is open to navigation under American protection.
