The Egyptian media figure Ahmed Shobair criticized the performance of his son, Mustafa Shobair, the goalkeeper of the Egyptian national team, following the Pharaohs' defeat against the South African team, affirming that the goalkeeper bears part of the responsibility alongside the defense for the tactical mistakes that appeared during the match.

Ahmed Shobair clarified during his program on Sunday that he evaluates matches with complete neutrality, away from family emotions, pointing out that Mustafa Shobair has shown good levels at certain times, but he has made significant mistakes related to positioning, decision-making on crosses, and dealing with the opponent's attacking pressure.

Shobeir the father added: "Mustafa is a goalkeeper with great potential and is making steady progress, but wearing the national team jersey imposes strict standards; a mistake in international matches costs the team a lot, and objective evaluation is the only way to develop levels and address mistakes in the future."

The Egyptian national team concluded the recent international break with a loss to South Africa, with a score of one goal to none, in a friendly match held at the Cairo International Stadium, as part of both teams' preparations for upcoming challenges.

It is worth noting that the South African national team scored the only goal of the match in the 51st minute through Buso Dithiejane, after taking advantage of a counter-attack and a mistake by goalkeeper Mustafa Shobeir, before dribbling past Egyptian defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid and shooting the ball into the empty net.

It is noted that the Egyptian national team began the international break with a goalless draw against Angola in the first round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, before achieving a significant victory over South Sudan with a clean five-goal win away in the second round.
