Abdul Rahman Al-Sayyed identifies 4 “priorities” for his work in the Senate

- When Abdul Rahman Al-Sayyed, a member of the US Democratic Party, began his election race for Senate in the state of Michigan, he did not expect the matter to gain such a large scale. Now, as he approaches his swearing-in date in January, the senator-elect is looking forward to the goals he seeks to achieve.

In a statement to the WDIV channel affiliated with the Ofoq News network, Al-Sayyed confirmed that the issue that is at the top of his priorities is preventing the implementation of cuts in the “Medicaid” health care program, which are the cuts included in the bill proposed by President Donald Trump. Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed said: “I actually think that we will be able to get support from some Republicans, especially in rural communities, as many of them realize that this matter does not make sense, and that it must be addressed.”

He also indicated his intention to confront “the dominance of monopolies and large corporate conglomerates,” and to work to pass the “Law to Protect the Right to Organize” to strengthen the role of trade unions. Finally, after running in an election race that witnessed the spending of hundreds of millions of dollars, Al-Sayyed expressed his desire to put an end to this type of spending by external parties, and said: “I ran in the elections on the basis of the slogan of keeping money out of politics.”

To address people's concerns about affordability, Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed reiterated that confronting big companies is an essential way to deal with rising prices. He expressed hope that his campaign would highlight these issues, prompting other lawmakers to "open a serious discussion" with their constituents across the country.

He added: “There are steps we can take to limit this blatant corporate greed and their ability to engage in monopolistic practices,” pointing to the possibility of “dismantling major companies” as one of these solutions.
