At a time when the Lebanese government called for activating the framework agreement with Israel, Israeli forces launched airstrikes on areas in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, resulting in four people being injured, including a Lebanese soldier with serious wounds, continuing the field violations despite the ceasefire agreement being in effect.
The correspondent for Al Arabiya/Al Hadath reported that the Israeli airstrikes targeted the Mansouri and Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa areas in southern Lebanon, while an Israeli drone carried out a strike on Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa around 8:30 AM.
Additionally, the Lebanese army revealed that a soldier was seriously injured due to an Israeli targeting of a military vehicle in the Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa area, noting that three civilians were injured as a result of the same targeting, according to a statement published on the "X" platform.
These airstrikes came at a time when Israeli attacks on areas in southern Lebanon continue, despite the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah being in effect since June 21, amid ongoing field tensions and disputes regarding the implementation of agreements related to the security situation in the border area.
A few hours ago, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called for the activation of the framework agreement that was concluded between Lebanon and Israel. During his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, he emphasized the "necessity of moving to the stage of activating the tripartite framework and translating the principles of reciprocity and gradualism into practical steps and tangible results on the ground, which would lead to the restoration of Lebanon's full sovereignty, achieving the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory, and restricting arms to the state across its entire territory."
It is worth noting that Lebanon entered the war on March 2, after Hezbollah launched missiles towards Israel, claiming it was in response to the killing of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei in the first American and Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28. In turn, Israel responded with an intensive airstrike campaign, accompanied by a ground incursion of its forces into southern Lebanon, where they took control of dozens of towns and villages, and carried out extensive demolition operations in the areas they occupied.
Subsequently, the pace of confrontations decreased after a memorandum of understanding was reached between the United States and Iran in June, coinciding with the signing of a framework agreement between the Lebanese and Israeli governments, under American sponsorship, which stipulated the disarmament of Hezbollah and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the territories they occupy in southern Lebanon, in exchange for the deployment of the Lebanese army, starting in specific areas on a trial basis.
In the context of these understandings, the Lebanese army deployed in July in the town of Zoutar al-Gharbiyeh, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its outskirts, and also reinforced its presence in the towns of Sarifa and Frun, without reaching an agreement on additional areas.
Despite this, Israel continues to carry out airstrikes on southern Lebanon and execute explosions and demolitions in the towns it still occupies.
