Military confrontations are escalating in the countryside of Taiz Governorate, with the Yemeni government forces and the popular resistance moving to intensify ambushes against the movements of the terrorist Houthi militia, at a time when news continues of deaths and injuries among its ranks, coinciding with repeated funeral ceremonies for Houthi leaders and members in the governorates under its control, most of whom, according to circulating information, were killed on the Taiz and western coast fronts.
On Monday, the fighting fronts witnessed violent confrontations between government forces backed by the popular resistance and the Houthi militias, concentrated on the Al-Dhabab fronts, west of the city of Taiz, and Al-Aqroud, south of it, in conjunction with government forces repelling two separate attacks launched by the militias on the two fronts, forcing them to retreat, amid reports of deaths and injuries and the burning of military vehicles.
The media center of the Taiz Military Axis announced, on Monday, that the Yemeni army forces backed by the popular resistance were able to repel two separate attacks by the Houthi militias on the Al-Dhabab fronts, west of the city, and Al-Aqrodh, in the south, amid continuing field confrontations.
The statement stated that the army forces thwarted the attack attempts and forced the Houthis to retreat after inflicting human losses and burning military vehicles, while continuing to carry out elaborate ambushes against the group's movements.
The militias suffered human and material losses as a result of ambushes targeting their movements on the outskirts of the Al-Dhabab area and the Talouk area in Al-Misrakh District, where field information reported dozens of deaths and injuries and the destruction of a number of military vehicles, while no independent and final tally was available to confirm the exact size of the losses.
In the Taluk region, field sources reported that groups of the Houthi militia infiltrated towards Jabal Taluk, coming from Najd Qassim, before arriving in Salila Taluk, where they were subjected to an ambush that, according to those sources, resulted in heavy human losses among their ranks.
Field testimonies spoke of the scattering of the bodies of dead militias in Al-Sa'ila, indicating that some of them were not withdrawn from the confrontation site. It was not possible to independently verify these details or determine the actual number of deaths in the ambush.
The areas of Al-Dhabab and Talouk are gaining field importance within the vicinity of Taiz, in light of the Houthis’ continued attempts to advance or change their deployment locations, and the corresponding confrontation and ambush operations that target individuals and vehicles and limit freedom of movement in the areas of clashes.
In conjunction with the clashes and ambushes, warplanes launched a series of air strikes targeting Houthi militia sites in Tabat al-Khalwa, Tabat al-Aswad, and Tabat al-Karba in the Dhabab area, according to the media center of the Taiz axis.
He added that the Yemeni warplanes targeted, with four raids, Houthi militia gatherings, weapons, and equipment in Milat Dhabab, west of Taiz, destroying a 23 mm cannon, a 106 mm cannon, and a tank. The raids also resulted in a number of deaths and injuries among the militia’s ranks.
The raids came in the context of the confrontations that took place on the Western Front, coinciding with the response to the Houthi attacks in Al-Dabab and Al-Aqroud, which put the militia’s movements under simultaneous military pressure from ground confrontations and air strikes.
These developments reflect the continued state of alert on the fronts surrounding the city of Taiz, as government and resistance forces seek to thwart the attacks and prevent the militias from achieving field breakthroughs, while the latter continues to push its members towards the confrontation sites despite the losses reported by field sources.
The importance of ambushes is not limited to direct human losses, but extends to disrupting military movements and raising the cost of progress, especially when they target moving groups and vehicles on narrow paths or areas where maneuvering and withdrawal are difficult.
