In a notable field development on the western coast of Yemen, Yemeni forces captured a number of Houthi militia members during the ongoing battles around Bab al-Mandab, while continuing their advance against the group.
Footage obtained by "Al Arabiya/Al Hadath" today, Monday, showed several Houthi elements after falling into the hands of the National Shield Forces on the western coast, coinciding with the Yemeni army's announcement of control over Bab al-Mandab and Dhobab Airport and the encirclement of hundreds of Houthi elements in the area.
This comes as the Yemeni armed forces announced that hundreds of Houthi elements are now besieged in the Dhobab area, calling on them to surrender to the government forces.
Meanwhile, some members of the group managed to escape by sea on boats, according to a statement by the official spokesman for the armed forces, Colonel Majid Al-Nazili, published by the Yemeni News Agency "Saba."
Simultaneously with the ongoing battles on the western coast, the Yemeni forces announced the execution of 1122 targeting operations against the positions, movements, and reinforcements of the Houthis in Saada, Al-Jawf, Taiz, and the coast.
It was also indicated that the operations resulted in the "neutralization" of 1747 members of the group, in addition to the destruction and damage of 364 military vehicles, equipment, and means of transport and supply, according to "Saba."
The "National Shield" forces and the Giants Brigades, supported by popular resistance, announced the liberation of the Dhobab district and strategic sites around the Bab al-Mandab Strait in western Taiz governorate, following confrontations with the Houthis.
Meanwhile, a military source clarified that the forces carried out a wide operation under air cover targeting the positions and movements of the Houthis, managing to advance and control important sites and cut off supply routes leading to Bab al-Mandab.
The Yemeni armed forces later announced the start of the "Dawn of Yemen" operation on a wide scale to target Houthi capabilities and elements, confirming control over Bab al-Mandab and Dhobab Airport, in addition to cutting the road linking Dhobab and Al-Mokha and tightening fire control over it.
In the same context, the spokesperson for the Coalition Forces to Support Legitimacy, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, confirmed the destruction of 324 high-value targets at the start of the operation, stating that 100 fighter jets participated in it, with ongoing air support for the Yemeni forces and securing air protection for the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
