Dubai, United Arab Emirates - These enchanting scenes of natural waterfalls and lakes look like they came out of a painting, but they are not so far-fetched, they actually exist in the Sultanate of Oman. (Watch the video above). Wadi Darbat is considered one of the most beautiful valleys in the Dhofar Governorate, due to its stunning views of greenery, lush orchards, constant flow of water, seasonal waterfalls flowing in the arteries of streams, and rocky curves, according to what was reported by the Oman News Agency.
This valley winds its way between hills and plateaus until it reaches Khor Rori, where it empties into the Arabian Sea. During the fall season, the valley’s waters descending from the mountains turn into “wonderful” waterfalls falling from a height of tens of meters, according to the Omani Ministry of Tourism website.
With the help of a drone, Omani photographer and travel blogger Mohammed Al Hasani was able to document stunning views of Wadi Al Darbat waterfalls and its distinctive nature. Al-Hasani explains in an interview with the Ofoq News website in Arabic, that Wadi Darbat is considered a “natural and recreational tourist destination, where the beauty of green nature, fresh water, and self-recreation come together in one place,” explaining that the most appropriate time to visit this valley is during the fall season, which is considered one of the most beautiful seasons of nature.
From Al-Hassani’s point of view, the site has many features that highlight its tourist importance, as it includes different natural terrains of lakes, rock arches, and caves decorated with stalactites and stalagmites. The location is also suitable for families, as there are boats operated by young men from the Sultanate of Oman, adding another area of beauty, and the autumn picture is completed by spending special memories in the midst of this picturesque nature, according to what Al-Hasani said.
Al-Hassani believes that the importance of Wadi Darbat is that it reveals the diversity of pristine natural landscapes, including green lands and waterfalls. The flow of Wadi Darbat Waterfall, called “Jaafar”, attracts tourists as it flows and connects to Khor Ruri and the historic port of Sumharam, which constitutes a beautiful view and a memory that remains stuck in people’s minds, according to the Omani News Agency.
Ain Darbat is considered one of the most important water springs in Dhofar, and its waterfalls usually continue flowing for several months, providing large quantities of water that enhance the recharge of the groundwater reserve in the governorate, according to the website of the Omani Ministry of Information. During some fall seasons, the valley forms a waterfall that reaches a height of about 100 meters on a beautiful, quiet mountain slope that flows northward. Visitors can see the Darbat Falls from the main road when it is flowing, and when the water level rises in Wadi Darbat, the spring explodes, especially when heavy rain falls.
Ain Drayat is characterized by the presence of many caves with fossilized limestone deposits on their ceilings and floors. Al-Hasani did not imagine the existence of this picturesque natural image in the Sultanate of Oman, explaining that these scenes are something we usually see in movies or outside the Sultanate of Oman, according to what the Omani photographer mentioned.
Al-Hasani points out that there are those who called the site “Europe of the Gulf” in comparison to the beauty of European nature. For anyone who wants to visit this valley, Al-Hasani advises to make sure to wear comfortable clothes for movement, sports shoes, and avoid wearing shoes with a soft texture to avoid falling, due to the muddy floor near the valley.
Al-Hassani adds that one should not risk going to high places near the waterfall in order to ensure safety, and one should also pay attention to children while visiting the valley.
