Although the laser beam seems harmless at first glance, directing it at aircraft at night could cause a real disaster. (Watch the video above) When planes fly at low altitudes, especially during takeoff and landing, pilots' concentration is at its highest levels. At this sensitive stage, laser beams may become a real danger to their field of vision; The small point of light is scattered by microscopic scratches in the cockpit glass and turns into an intense glare.
For this reason, international laws imposed strict penalties for this behavior, according to what was explained by the Syrian pilot and flight instructor, Tariq Ozon, who said in an interview with the Ofoq News website in Arabic: “We must always remember that aviation safety is a shared responsibility... and any reckless behavior by a person on the ground may endanger the lives of hundreds of people.”
