- Have you ever wondered what a pilot hears when he talks to the control tower? (Watch the video above) In the past, the pilot would communicate in the language of the country he was flying over, which posed a major challenge to aviation safety. As a result, standard phrases in English have been adopted as a unified means of communication between pilot and air traffic controller around the world.
According to Jordanian air traffic controller Batoul Qatawneh, these phrases are “short and precise.” Al-Qatawneh explained in an interview with the Ofoq News website in Arabic: “It is important for everyone to understand the same message without any ambiguity, no matter how diverse the nationalities and different destinations are. Therefore, the language of aviation is an essential element in the air safety system around the world.”
