Port Said Governorate in northern Egypt witnessed a state of extreme anger and shock following the mysterious death of an 11-year-old boy, a second-year middle school student at the 10th of Ramadan Preparatory School for Boys.
The tragedy began last Sunday, after the child, Adam Muhammad Al-Ahmadi, performed the dawn prayer in congregation with his father and brother, and headed to his school, where he opened the school radio by reciting verses from the Holy Quran among his classmates.
After the queue ended and during the physical education class, his classmates were surprised when he suddenly fell with painful calls for help before he lost consciousness completely.
The child was immediately transferred to Al-Zohour Hospital and then to Al-Salam Hospital in Port Said, where it was found that he had suffered a severe brain hemorrhage, as a result of which he was admitted to pediatric intensive care before he breathed his last. However, the biggest shock came with the official medical report, which proved that the toxicology analysis was positive for the narcotic substance "amphetamine", and negative for the rest of the substances, such as tramadol, cocaine, and hashish.
For her part, the child’s mother completely denied the suspicion of drug abuse, confirming that her son has memorized the Book of God, is an athlete at the October Youth Center, and does not take any substances, suggesting that he was exposed to the process of “slitting” the narcotic substance into his water bottle by an unknown person.
The doctors explained that the child was suffering from a simple congenital brain defect that precipitated the bleeding as soon as the substance entered his body, while his father confirmed that he had received a call from the school administration at exactly eight-thirty in the morning to take him to the hospital, demanding that the person responsible for this crime be revealed.
The investigation authorities in Port Said continue to interrogate officials and examine the circumstances to reveal how the narcotic substance got into the body of an 11-year-old child inside a school campus, amid widespread popular and official demands to open an urgent investigation and hold all those negligent accountable.
