The governor of Yemen's Shabwa, Awad Muhammad bin Al-Wazir, revealed in special statements to Al-Arabiya channel that cells affiliated with Al-Qaeda operating in cooperation with the Houthis were seized inside the governorate, stressing that investigations into its members are still ongoing, and that the authorities will publish their confessions later.

These statements come in conjunction with the governor’s announcement that the death toll from the Houthi attack on a training camp in Shabwa had risen to 58 dead and more than 200 injured, in addition to 14 missing people.

Bin Al-Wazir explained that the Houthis carried out the attack using 3 missiles launched from the Marib mountains towards the camp, without revealing a direct link between the seized cells and the missile attack.

The numbers announced by the governor reveal the extent of the human losses resulting from the attack, at a time when the details of the fate of the missing are not yet clear.

The governor of Shabwa confirmed that the attack was carried out using 3 missiles launched by the Houthis from the Ma'rib mountains towards the training camp.

These statements come as part of revealing the circumstances of the attack, after the death toll rose to 58 people.

In another development, the governor of Shabwa revealed the presence of cells within the governorate, stressing that investigations into them are still ongoing.

Bin Al-Wazir said that the authorities arrested cells inside Shabwa, indicating that they would publish the confessions of their members later. He added that Al-Qaeda cells working with the Houthis were seized in the governorate.

The governor did not reveal the number of people arrested or the nature of the accusations against them, nor did he clarify whether investigations had proven a direct link between them and the missile attack on the camp.

The statements of the Governor of Shabwa come at a time when the authorities continue to deal with the repercussions of the attack, amid the high number of victims and continued ambiguity regarding the fate of the missing.
