Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in Aden provided about 5 million medical services, including examinations, surgeries, specialized cardiac care, emergency services, diagnosis and treatment, since it began operating through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen in January 2023 until this October.

This comes within the framework of the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support development paths in Yemen, enhance basic services and improve living conditions, through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and operating the hospital, as one of the most prominent development projects in the health sector.

The hospital recorded about two million medical examinations, more than 53,000 emergency department visits, and more than 272,000 hospitalization cases, in addition to performing 31,000 surgical operations in the specialties of general surgery, orthopedics, eyes, women, childbirth, urology, nose, ear, and brain and neurosurgery, as well as gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures, thus enhancing the integration of medical and specialized services and opportunities for obtaining surgical care.

In the field of specialized cardiac care, the hospital’s Heart Center provides services for diagnosing heart diseases and therapeutic and surgical interventions, and has performed more than 11,000 heart surgeries and cardiac catheterizations, thus enhancing the availability of advanced specialized cardiac services in Yemen, and supporting efforts to treat cardiovascular diseases.

Specialized services in obstetrics and gynecology surgery and pediatric cardiac interventions also contributed to enhancing the availability of therapeutic care for these groups, in support of health priorities related to the health of women and children.

The hospital's services extended to the diagnostic and supportive aspects, which constitute a basic foundation for the integration of health care and the continuity of treatment paths, as it provided more than two million laboratory services and more than 300,000 x-ray services, in addition to issuing more than a million medical prescriptions and registering about 15,000 blood donations.

The operation of the hospital embodies the connection between development projects and the basic needs of communities, by supporting health services and enhancing their continuity, which contributes to improving access to medical care and supporting human development paths in Yemen.

At the health sector level, development projects and initiatives provided through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen contributed to supporting 30 medical facilities in 13 Yemeni governorates. The most prominent of these projects are the King Salman Medical and Educational City, the dialysis center in Al-Mahra Governorate, the Motherhood and Childhood Center, the Nojd Health Center for emergency cases in Socotra, and the Sabah Hospital in Abyan Governorate, in addition to supporting 3 hospitals in Ma’rib Governorate, which are Kara General Hospital, September 26 Hospital, and Ma’rib General Authority Hospital.

These projects and initiatives come as an extension of the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen, which since its establishment has presented 300 projects and initiatives in 8 basic and vital sectors, including education, health, energy, water, transportation, agriculture, fisheries, development programs, and developing and supporting the capabilities of the Yemeni government.

This reflects an integrated development approach that focuses on supporting basic services, enhancing infrastructure, and developing capabilities, which contributes to improving living conditions, supporting economic and social stability, and enhancing development paths in Yemen.
