Salfit - Ofoq News - At dawn on Friday, settlers burned perennial fruitful olive trees in the Wadi Al-Shaer area located between the city of Salfit and the eastern village of Al-Laban, in a new attack targeting agricultural lands and Palestinian farmers coinciding with the olive harvest season.
Citizens reported that the settlers of the settlement outpost established on citizens’ lands in the area burned between 20-30 fruitful perennial olive trees, owned by citizens of Salfit, causing damage to agricultural lands.
The Wadi Al-Shaer area between Salfit and Al-Laban Al-Sharqiya is witnessing an escalation in settler attacks, especially during the olive harvest season, where farmers are subjected to repeated attacks targeting them, their lands, and their property, in light of attempts to prevent them from reaching their lands and harvesting their crops, which exacerbates their suffering and threatens their source of livelihood.
These attacks constitute a threat to the olive season and the livelihood of dozens of Palestinian families who depend on olive cultivation, in addition to the damage to trees and agricultural lands, which represent a basic source of income for farmers and a deep-rooted connection to their land.
