Egypt.. Interior Ministry Reveals the Truth About the Hunger Strike of Inmates in a Minya Prison

- The Egyptian Ministry of Interior denied what it described as "claims" propagated by pages affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood abroad, which included allegations of a hunger strike by a number of inmates in a prison in Minya Governorate in Upper Egypt, in protest against their exposure to violations. The Ministry of Interior stated in a statement via its official account on the platform "X", formerly Twitter, on Thursday: "An security source denied the validity of what was circulated by pages affiliated with the terrorist Brotherhood abroad on social media, which included claims of a hunger strike by a number of inmates in a rehabilitation and correction center in Minya, in protest against their exposure to violations, as well as the allegation of preventing food from entering the inmates during visits to force them to buy food products from inside the center."

The ministry added that the security source confirmed the "falsehood of those claims, and that there are no strikes inside any of the rehabilitation and correction centers, and that the same pages have previously published those allegations multiple times and they were denied at the time." The Egyptian Ministry of Interior emphasized in its statement that "this comes within the framework of the continuous and desperate attempts by the terrorist Brotherhood to obtain advantages for its members inside the rehabilitation and correction centers outside the legal frameworks, and legal measures are being taken against those promoting these claims."
