Egypt decides to provide all forms of support to Saudi Arabia to defend its security and stability

Cairo - Ofoq News - The Egyptian National Defense Council announced, on Sunday, Egypt’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing the provision of all necessary and possible forms of support to defend the Kingdom’s security, stability and territorial integrity.

This came during a meeting chaired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Federal Palace, to discuss regional developments and the escalation the region is witnessing, in light of the increasing attacks on Saudi Arabia.

The Council affirmed that Egypt's position is based on the historical relations and close ties between the two countries, stressing that Saudi national security is linked to Egyptian and Arab national security.

The Council also decided to continue and intensify political and diplomatic efforts, in coordination with relevant regional and international parties, to reduce escalation and resolve the crises taking place in the region through peaceful means.

On Saturday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s readiness to take the necessary measures to defend Saudi Arabia if the Kingdom requests that, calling for an emergency session of the House of Representatives to be held to consider authorizing it to take the necessary measures.

These positions come in light of the escalation of military tensions in the region, amid Egyptian calls to contain the crisis and avoid the expansion of confrontations.
