Al-Ittihad Saudi Arabia lost to its guest, Shabab Al-Ahly of the Emirates, 1-2, on Tuesday, at Al-Enmaa Stadium in Jeddah, in the second round of the league stage in the AFC Champions League for Elite Football.
Iranian striker Sardar Azmoun opened the scoring for Shabab Al-Ahly in the seventh minute, before adding the second goal in the 16th minute, while Colombian Richard Rios reduced the gap for Al-Ittihad in the 66th minute.
Al-Ittihad failed to achieve its first victory in the continental championship this season, after starting its campaign with a 1-1 draw with Al-Shamal of Qatar in the first round, so its score froze at one point in 11th place, while Shabab Al-Ahly raised its score to six points in fourth place.
The loss came to increase Al-Ittihad's troubles, after it recently lost to Al-Hilal with a score of 2-3 in the Saudi League, suffering its second consecutive defeat in various competitions.
