Haaretz: The Boycott Penetrates the Streets and Israel Faces Difficulty in Turning Back the Clock

Tel Aviv - Afaq News - The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that signs of boycott and distancing from Israel are noticeably expanding, and are no longer limited to government decisions or political positions, but have begun to infiltrate areas of economy, culture, sports, and public life.

According to the newspaper, a series of measures taken by countries, institutions, and companies in recent times reflect a shift in the nature of dealings with Israel, amid rising international criticism of its policies, particularly in light of the war in the Gaza Strip.

Haaretz pointed out that some European countries have begun to take measures regarding settlement products, while initiatives calling for a reduction in economic, cultural, and sports relations with Israel are increasing.

The report noted that the Netherlands is among the countries that have taken steps regarding settlement products, while movements related to boycotting sporting events involving an Israeli team have emerged in Ireland.

The newspaper believes that the expansion of this phenomenon into various sectors and fields makes it more entrenched than previous boycott campaigns, as it is no longer solely linked to the positions of governments or political organizations, but has also become present in the decisions of institutions, companies, and the public in several countries.

According to "Haaretz", the accumulation of these measures may make it difficult for Israel to restore relations to what they were before, even if the political circumstances that led to the escalation of the boycott and international pressures change.
