Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly received an unexpected gift on the sidelines of his opening of the “Our Heritage 2026” exhibition to support handicrafts and heritage in Cairo, when a Turkish official gave him the shirt of Egyptian player Mohamed Salah, who this year joined the Trabzonspor team.
The Turkish Deputy Director General for Family Affairs and Social Services, Ahmed Tashan, who is from the city of Trabzon, presented Salah’s shirt to Madbouly during an inspection of the Turkish pavilion at the exhibition, in a scene that caught the attention of the participants, and became one of the most prominent details of the visit, especially with signs of happiness appearing on Madbouly’s face when he received the burgundy and blue shirt bearing the name of the captain of the Egyptian national team.
The gift received the attention of Turkish media, as the Turkish website "61saat", which specializes in following Trabzon news, published a report covering the scenes of gifting the team's shirt to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, highlighting Madbouly's reaction upon receiving the shirt, and the gesture that caught attention during his visit to the Turkish pavilion.
This gesture came on the sidelines of the eighth session of the “Our Heritage 2026” exhibition, held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center from October 17 to 24, with Turkish participation, the first of its kind.
A few days ago, Salah led his Turkish team, Trabzonspor, to a wide victory over the Finnish club, Palosioura, with a score of 4-2, in the first round of the European Football Conference League.
Salah scored one goal and assisted another, leading the Turkish team to a valuable victory outside its stadium, days before an important match awaits it locally in the league against Besiktas, today, Monday.
It is noteworthy that since his move to the ranks of Trabzonspor this summer, Salah has received wide media attention in Türkiye, amid anticipation that the presence of the Egyptian star will reflect on the club’s popularity and the city’s sports and tourism status.
The interest was not limited to the green rectangle, but extended to honorary initiatives that reflect the volume of interaction with the deal, including the announcement by Mustafa Beyik, Mayor of Ymeri in Trabzon, to name Salah’s name on the street on which the player’s house is located in the Kuşuştu area.
The celebration of the Egyptian star also extended to the artistic field, as the city of Trabzon witnessed the painting of a huge mural bearing his picture in the club’s shirt.
