Saudi Defense Minister and Pakistani Army Chief Discuss Confronting Attacks Under the Mecca Agreement

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with Pakistani Army Chief General Asim Munir in Riyadh to discuss the attacks targeting Mecca and the civil and economic facilities in the Kingdom.

Prince Khalid bin Salman stated in a post on the "X" platform on Friday that he met with General Asim Munir, and they praised the outcomes of the meeting of the Chiefs of Staff of the countries party to the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense, and discussed the "criminal attacks" that targeted Mecca and the civil and economic facilities in the Kingdom.

The Saudi Defense Minister added: "We confirmed our continued joint work to confront these attacks under the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense."

The meeting between Prince Khalid bin Salman and General Asim Munir followed a meeting of the Chief of Defense Forces and the Chiefs of General Staff of the countries party to the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense, which was held in Riyadh on Friday, with the participation of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey.

The Saudi Ministry of Defense revealed that the meeting confirmed the joint determination to immediately translate the commitments outlined in the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense into effective military cooperation, while the participants reaffirmed their "strong commitment to collective defense, reflecting the determination of the three countries to defend the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia."

The Chiefs of Staff also reviewed the security situation and the threats facing the Kingdom, expressed their strong condemnation of the attacks targeting the city of Mecca and the civil and economic infrastructure of the Kingdom, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the armed forces of the three countries, develop intelligence cooperation, military coordination, and capability integration, contributing to strengthening deterrence and collective defense.
