Anwar Gargash, advisor to the Emirati president, commented on Monday on the attacks launched by the Houthis in Yemen on Saudi Arabia, warning that all Arab Gulf states had become targeted, and stressed that “Gulf security is a shared responsibility that cannot tolerate complacency or postponement.” Anwar Gargash wrote in a post on his official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter, on Monday: “Since the start of the aggression against the Arab Gulf states, based on the aggressor’s mistaken assessment that they are the weakest link in a war we sought to avoid, it has become clear that we are all targets, and that our security is indivisible.
Targeting the sister Kingdom of Saudi Arabia undermines the security of the UAE and all Gulf states.” The Emirati president’s advisor added: “There is a necessity to revive joint Gulf action, especially in its security and defense aspects, and to strengthen the collective security system.
It is the dimension that witnessed gross negligence, which encouraged others to attack us,” according to his description. Gargash concluded his post by saying: “Gulf security is a shared responsibility that cannot tolerate complacency or postponement.”
The Houthis in Yemen have intensified their attacks on airports and civilian sites in Saudi Arabia, as part of the confrontations they are waging with Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces. At least 12 people were killed and hundreds injured on Saturday when Houthi militants in Yemen targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital, while the Iran-backed group escalated its campaign against the kingdom.
The Kingdom's Civil Aviation Authority announced, on Sunday, that the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resulted in the killing of 4 Saudi citizens, two residents from Bangladesh, and one resident from each of the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan, adding that 309 people were injured.
