The Red Sea Film Foundation records its largest presence to date at the Busan International Film Festival, with a record participation of 10 films supported within this year’s festival program.

The list of participating works includes the film “Benimana” by director Marie-Clémentine Dusabejambo, supported by the Red Sea Fund and the Red Sea Market, “Dreams of Wild Oak Trees” by director Marjan Khosravi, and “Four Seasons in Java” by director Kamila Andini, while the film “An Unknown Girl” by director Zou Jing is participating with the support of the Red Sea Market.

The list also includes “Hearing” by Lê Bảo, “Parallel Stories” by Asghar Farhadi, “Raya” by Arvin Belarmino, “Salvation” by Emin Alper, “Selfie” by Sailesh Rathnakumar, in addition to “The Violin Player” by Ervin Han and Raúl García, all supported by the Red Sea Fund.

The Foundation's presence in Busan extends to the Asian content and film market, where the Red Sea Fund offers an award to one of the selected projects, as part of its efforts to support filmmakers, enable promising projects, and expand opportunities for cooperation between those working in the film industry at the international level.

In conjunction with the Foundation’s presence in the market and its participation in specialized professional discussions about financing cinematic projects and supporting filmmakers, the Director of Red Sea Fund Initiatives, Mai Al-Shaibani, participates in the “Film Funds Talk” session, along with a number of representatives of cinema funds in Asia, to discuss the role of financing in supporting filmmakers, and supporting promising cinematic projects to reach from the development stages to implementation.

The participation of the ten films constitutes a record for the Red Sea Film Foundation at the Busan Festival, as its participation this year combines the presence of supported works in the festival program, contribution to the Asian content and film market, in addition to participation in professional discussions related to financing the film industry and developing its projects.
