A circulating video of the "arrest of Suhail al-Hassan known as the Tiger in Lebanon".. What is its truth?

- Accounts and pages on social media circulated a video claiming to be related to the moment of the arrest of Suhail al-Hassan, a former officer in the Syrian army during Bashar al-Assad's regime, nicknamed "the Tiger." Posts on X included the video and alleged that there was "preliminary information talking about the arrest of the so-called Tiger (the former brigadier general in the fallen Syrian regime's army, Suhail al-Hassan) by the Lebanese intelligence."

The video received tens of thousands of views at least on various social media platforms, including X and Facebook. By dividing the video into still shots and using reverse image search, we found many older copies, most of which were published on December 10, 2024.

A post on Facebook at that time stated that "the military operations management is carrying out extensive arrest campaigns in Latakia, Tartus, and Damascus, including those involved in crimes and former officers in the general intelligence and army." This is alongside the fact that Lebanese or Syrian authorities have not issued any official statements regarding the claims made.

In the meantime, Lebanese media reported that security sources said that what is being circulated about the arrest of Suhail al-Hassan in Lebanon is not true, and they indicated that he is currently in Russia, having left from Hmeimim Airport in Latakia to Moscow during the fall of the Assad regime. Suhail al-Hassan's name is associated with barrel bomb explosions in various locations in Syria during the civil war, one of which coincided with the downing of a regime helicopter dropping toxic gas via a barrel bomb on a Syrian town.
