A sharp rise in the wholesale price index in the third quarter of the year

Ramallah - Ofoq News - Official data, issued today, Monday, showed a sharp rise in the wholesale price index of 16.39% during the third quarter of 2026, compared to the second quarter, by 20.17% for imported goods, and by 7.03% for goods produced and consumed locally.

The Central Bureau of Statistics explained that the wholesale price index for locally produced and consumed goods increased by 25.03% during the comparative years, while the index for imported goods increased by 1.9%.

Wholesale prices for goods within the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles also recorded a sharp increase of 63.40%, which constitutes 11% of wholesale trade, as wholesale prices for maintenance and repair of motor vehicles rose by 30.95%.

The wholesale trade section, excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, recorded an increase of 10.34%, which constitutes 89% of wholesale trade, as wholesale prices rose for a group of categories as follows: grains and seeds by 48.19%, lubricating oils and fats by 25.44%, iron tools by 24.73%, home furnishings by 12.41%, and fruits and vegetables by 25.44%. 5.14%, liquid fuels by 4.23%, and pharmaceuticals and medicinal preparations by 1.52%.

in contrast; Wholesale prices for a group of categories decreased as follows: solid fuels by 22.12%, fish, meat and their products by 7.16%, live animals by 6.79%, gaseous fuels by 3.51%, metallic and non-metallic waste and other materials for recycling by 3.45%, and agricultural residues and waste for use as animal feed by 2.71%.
