Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais comments after “repeatedly targeting Mecca and Medina”

The head of religious affairs at the Two Holy Mosques in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, on Saturday denounced the attacks launched by the Yemeni Houthi group, considering that they “confirm their criminality and malicious intentions.” The official Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel reported Al-Sudais’ statements, where he said, “The Houthi terrorist militia’s repeated targeting of Mecca and Medina confirms its criminality and malicious intentions towards Muslims and their sanctities.”

He continued: "The sinful Houthi attacks contradict the principles and tolerant values of Islam and reveal the aggressive approach adopted by this militia without any scruples of religion or conscience." He also considered that targeting "sacred sites, civilians, and facilities is a crime forbidden by law, condemned in humanity, and in violation of international conventions and norms."

Earlier Saturday, the Houthis said in a statement that they carried out attacks with "drones and ballistic missiles" against King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, and Najran Airport. The statement added that other attacks targeted Aramco in Yanbu, the Rabaa oil refinery, crude oil pumping stations, and the pipeline transporting crude oil from east to west, in addition to the Khamis Mushait Air Base in the Kingdom.

Attacks by the Iranian-backed group on King Khalid International Airport were repeated, and an attack by them resulted in deaths of various nationalities, and was followed by an international campaign of condemnations of the Houthis.
