After Sisi’s statement regarding Saudi Arabia... Houthi warning of a “grave threat to Egyptian national security”

On Saturday, the Houthi-run Yemeni News Agency (Saba) published the text of a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives, Hisham Badawy, from the Speaker of the House of Representatives (affiliated with the Houthis), following Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s invitation to the House to convene to authorize it to take measures related to the defense of Saudi Arabia. Egyptian state television announced, earlier on Saturday, that the House of Representatives decided to hold a plenary session, tomorrow, Sunday, in response to Sisi’s request, to authorize him in any intervention requested by Saudi Arabia to protect and defend it.

The text of the letter stated: “We are following with great concern any trends that might lead Egypt to engage in military movements that serve the policies of the Saudi regime in Yemen, and we would like to place before you the following facts in all clarity and clarity, which is that the Saudi regime is the one that launched the aggression and siege on Yemen for more than 12 years.” The letter continued: “We categorically reject that Egypt, Arabism and history, be thrust into a battle that does not resemble its values, and that Egypt not be in the same trench with the Takfiri forces and the Israeli occupation entity in their war and aggression against Yemen.”

The letter also indicated that "Egypt's sliding down this path will pose a serious threat to its national security and internal stability before others." The Egyptian President said during his speech at a ceremony for the graduation of new batches from the Military Academy that Egypt is ready to implement any measure requested by Saudi Arabia to defend its security and sovereignty.

Al-Sisi stressed, “We stand strongly to protect and defend the lands of our brothers in the Gulf.” It is noteworthy that the members of the UN Security Council condemned in a statement, on Thursday, “in the strongest terms the continuing and escalating attacks launched by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, including attacks that targeted civil aviation and energy infrastructure and resulted in the death and injury of civilians.”
