The Syrian President in the transitional period, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, made a phone call with the Emirati President, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Wednesday, discussing “fraternal relations” and “developments in the situation in the region,” according to what the Syrian presidency and the official Emirates News Agency reported. The Syrian presidency said that the call discussed "bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to develop them in a way that serves their common interests, in addition to the latest developments in the situation in the region."
The Syrian presidency continued by saying that the two sides discussed "ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation and expand partnerships between the two brotherly countries," and stressed "the importance of continuing coordination and communication on issues of common interest." For its part, the official Emirates News Agency (WAM) said on Thursday that Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed received a call from Al-Shara during which they discussed "fraternal relations and various aspects of cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance it, especially in the developmental and economic fields, in a way that serves their mutual interests and brings goodness and development to their peoples."
The agency indicated that the two sides exchanged “views on a number of regional and international issues and developments and the efforts made regarding them, most notably the developments taking place in the Middle East region and their repercussions on the future, security and stability of the region,” and stressed “the importance of strengthening the causes of regional security and stability in the interest and development of all peoples of the region,” according to WAM. This call comes a day after Al-Sharaa’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
