- Accounts on social media circulated a video claiming it is related to a Houthi attack on oil facilities belonging to Aramco in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The video shows nighttime scenes of raging fires and a thick column of smoke, accompanied by a misleading description stating: "The fire at the Saudi Aramco facility in Riyadh is still raging intensely at this moment.
The large cloud of smoke covers the sky of the capital.. The clip first appeared on February 19, 2025, when it was posted by an account on TikTok.
At that time, the publishing account reported that the footage was of a "fire in the Second Industrial City in Dammam." Afaq News in Arabic had previously verified this clip when it was published by accounts last March, claiming its connection to an attack on the Shaybah field in southeastern Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the early days of the war between Iran and the United States.
The return of the video to circulation coincided with the announcement by the Houthi group in Yemen, backed by Iran, of launching attacks "targeting Aramco" in Riyadh, according to the spokesperson for the Houthi forces, Yahya Saree, on Saturday evening. At the time, Saudi authorities had not yet commented on these claims.
