Sheikh Mustafa Al-Ansari asked us to be “ashamed” of ourselves, and before we ask the Sheikh why? He answered: How do you want to hold the Gulf Championship in Iraq, when the Shiites in the Gulf countries are being slaughtered, imprisoned, and chased in the streets? The Sheikh, known for his hobby of making “resonant” statements, had come out to us one day to tell us that Iraq does not exist on the map of the countries of the world and that it is an artificial entity. Then he returned to threaten the government if it dared to establish economic relations with the Americans. In light of the Sheikh’s enthusiasm and his statements in which he demanded that we be ashamed of ourselves, he missed searching the site. Google, only to find a surprise waiting for him. A Gulf country the size of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has placed engineer Amin Al-Nasser, who is from the city of Qatif and belongs to the Shiite sect - which Sheikh Al-Ansari laments - at the top of the largest oil corporation in the world, by which I mean “Aramco”. Every day we see some sheikhs speaking in a categorical, decisive and affirming way about the fate of the Iraqis. Of course, I am not an expert on the intentions of Sheikh Mustafa Al-Ansari, but gentlemen, I read in the biography of Sheikh Muhammad Redha Al-Shabibi, the eminent scholar, that he never uttered a sectarian word in the face of anyone who disagreed with him politically, and that the scholar, Sayyed Hebat al-Din al-Shahrastani, enriched this country with a magazine called “Al-Ilm.” Al-Shahrastani was a man of science, knowledge, and politics, and those surrounding him in his magazine were prominent figures of Iraq with all their sects and orientations. But some of the sheikhs of this time, both Sunni and Shiite, are loyal to an upbringing that made them cogs in the sectarian machine. They all see disagreement with him as a kind of sin that must be fought. Many of our officials and some preachers believe that the countryMesopotamia, which they rule now, was living in pre-Islamic times, and God appointed men for it to return it to the right path. Therefore, it is not important to provide development, prosperity, education, and health for the people, as these are fleeting things that should not be preoccupied with. Our mission today is a sacred mission, which is to defeat all the forces that call for building a civil state. Didn’t Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani come upon us one day to announce that they had come to defeat the civilians and secularists, and that they had defeated them? Some people look at us while talking about Oppression and people’s right to security and prosperity, but in the end he turns into a contractor who distributes gratuities, gifts and contracts to relatives, friends and loved ones. Regis Debray writes in his book “The Thinker versus the Tribes” that: “People are well aware that opportunistic political discourse is based on the virtue of forgetfulness that characterizes human beings.” The truth is that forgetfulness has forgiven many of our officials for their crimes that were classified as an unintentional mistake. Gentlemen: For how long? We will continue to listen to politicians and preachers who believe that Iraq is a country on the margins and that its history is artificial, and that we must abolish the word homeland from our dictionary so that they do not call us “nationalist”?
