Iran recalled the proposal it had previously submitted via mediators to the United States recently. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that this proposal, which leads to the opening of the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, is still on the table.
He also added, in statements to local media on Sunday, that Washington's acceptance of Tehran's conditions would mean opening the Strait within six days and resuming talks on the seventh day.
Earlier today, Araqchi accused Washington of obstructing the diplomatic track and threatening the security of navigation in Hormuz.
Note that US President Donald Trump had previously announced his rejection of this proposal, stressing that he was no longer interested in this issue after the American forces were able to secure navigation and the movement of ships in this important waterway, as he put it.
However, despite this public rejection, the mediators continued their efforts to bring points of view closer together in order to reach an agreement to end the conflict that erupted on February 28, and led to major paralysis in this vital strait.
While the United States continued its stifling siege of Iranian ports and imposed more sanctions.
It is noteworthy that the revised proposal submitted by Tehran, which was described to a large extent as similar to the initial agreement that collapsed between the two parties after it was signed last June, stipulated the lifting of the American blockade on Iranian ports, the lifting of the embargo on frozen Iranian assets abroad, and the cessation of hostilities on all fronts in exchange for opening Hormuz to ship traffic.
